A texture pack was a collection of files that were used to change the in-game textures of blocks, items, mobs and the GUI .

The native resolution of Minecraft's textures were 16x16 (measured pixels in block height and widht).

32x32, 64x64, 128x 128, 256x256, 512x512 and 1024x1024 textures were referred to as ''HD''.
